Product Functionality and Safety
Sheets to Mac is a macOS menubar application designed to display Google Sheets data in a convenient popup interface. The application:
- Does not contain malware, spyware, or other harmful code.
- Functions primarily locally on the user's device, with secure API connections to Google Sheets.
- Does not transmit user data to external servers beyond what's necessary to access Google Sheets.
- Does not modify the user's Google Sheets documents.
- Stores API keys securely in the macOS Keychain.
Data Privacy (GDPR)
Sheets to Mac is designed with privacy as a core principle. As detailed in our Privacy Policy, the application does not collect, store, process, or share personal user data beyond what's necessary for the app to function. All operations occur locally on the user's device, with the exception of API calls to Google Sheets using the user-provided API key.
Google API Compliance
Sheets to Mac uses the Google Sheets API v4 in compliance with Google's API Terms of Service. The application:
- Only accesses spreadsheets explicitly configured by the user.
- Only reads data and does not modify spreadsheets.
- Implements secure storage of API credentials.
- Uses batch optimization to minimize API calls.
Digital Services Act (DSA) Applicability
The Digital Services Act introduces rules applicable to various online actors. Sheets to Mac is primarily a software tool operating locally and does not function as an intermediary service under the typical scope of the DSA in areas such as:
- Hosting user-generated content.
- Providing an online platform connecting users.
- Operating as a search engine.
- Displaying third-party advertising based on user profiling.
Therefore, many specific obligations under the DSA related to content moderation, recommender systems, or advertising transparency do not directly apply to the core functionality of this application. We are committed to transparency, and relevant information can be found on this page, the Privacy Policy, and the Support page.
